Alves were born Rodrigo Alves on 30 July 1983 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to an Brazilian mother and a British father. His father, Roserval Alves, hailed from a Portuguese family that arrived in Brazil in the early 1940s. The family initially was in the farming trade however they expanded their involvement in business that included supermarkets, retail centers, as well as real estate. She was five years old at the time her grandfather gifted the Barbie dolls. Alves was born male however, she believed that she should have been female at the age of "three, four, five or six". The girl also had fun with dolls and crossed-dressed, and enjoyed having fun with dolls. It is her belief that women shouldn't be limited as gender-based. 8] She was shy, and bullied throughout childhood. Alves had to endure bullying as a teenage girl because of hormone imbalance. A high estrogen level caused breast tissue to increase. [9][7] Her family has many grocery stores in Brazil which has made them successful, however, as of 2018, Alves has not made any profit relating to the stores. 10 Alves made the move to London aged 18 which is where she studied public relations at London College of Communication.
